Glowing halls of warmth and shining sconces wander to the centerpiece of towering rooms and shelves that reach forever. Plush carpets muffle footsteps before turning to cool
marble underfoot as the temperatures cool significantly. Two ends of the spectrum meet in a grand archway, a large oak door standing between the traveler and the truth of such opulence. Being forgotten is much like death, an inevitable part of life, but the
Goddess of the Forgotten does not believe this must mean chills and despair.
This temple serves as the entrance to the entirety of the
Other Side and the truth of the realm the
Goddess of the Forgotten keeps. Warm halls welcome those who enter into the
Crystalline Repository where all that has been forgotten comes to live out the rest of existence. These halls are far from the darkness and reality of the
Necropolis and the
God of Gravestones, but these two realms and their temples are parts of a whole. Those that are forgotten find themselves in the
Necropolis, never forgotten by the realm's patron while the things and creatures that have been forgotten by the world find their home in memorandum within the halls of the
Other Side.
Few enter the Temple of the Forgotten unless they themselves have passed into the afterlife. Those who have entered paradise visit these hallowed halls to find the things that were forgotten in their lives, memories, pets, and things, all waiting in the
Crystalline Repository for their owners to come back for them. This place is meant to be one of reunion, not one of loss.
The Temple of the Forgotten serves as the large majority of the
Other Side, serving as not only home for the goddess
Dementia but also the repository of all things that were forgotten in the world and its realms. This is considered the other half of the
Temple of the Departed as people are recorded in the tomes of
Lok while all things are recorded and kept by
Dementia.
Magic is heavily used in this realm as only specific magic taught by
Dementia can locate a singular item in the massive halls of memories and items that are scattered throughout the
Crystalline Repository. Even so,
Dementia does keep some handwritten notes and inventories, although nothing to the extent of
Lok.
The exterior of the Temple of the Forgotten is carved from
marble and
granite, although few ever see the outside. It is believed that the exterior architecture would mirror the architecture of the
Temple of the Departed, reminiscent of a mausoleum with grand pillars. The Temple of the Forgotten is entirely enclosed with a variety of stained glass windows in the exterior halls that surround the
Crystalline Repository.
The stained glass windows are said to depict parts of history that have been forgotten and removed from the history books, but even the massive libraries of the
Sphinxes cannot confirm this. Many of the events shown are from the time before the
Elder Races or soon after their entrance into the world.
The internal chambers of the Temple of the Forgotten make up the
Crystalline Repository and the personal chambers of
Dementia. The rooms of the temple are seemingly endless, forever growing as the things forgotten from the world increase. It is believed that one would never truly be able to see all that the temple had to offer, even with the lifetimes of ten
Dragons.
While tourism is common in many of the
Celestial Realms, the
Other Side is not open for visitation by those who are still living. Those who have entered the paradise of their god are allowed to visit the Temple of the Forgotten to find the things that they have forgotten throughout their lives. Some of these visitors may spend decades wandering the halls, but
Dementia is strict about who is allowed to access her archive.
I wonder if this place would have that sandwitch I lost yesterday. Would it be eatable if it did?
