Akashia (ɑkɑʃkɑ)
Of the Children of Eledra, none is as unknowable yet as intrinsically linked to mortals as Akashia. She is the keeper of all knowledge and experience, mistress of time, and record-keeper. All mortal and immortal experience alike that has been, is, or will ever be is held within their records. As such, she is one which all of her siblings would prefer to keep on their side.
It is perhaps beneficial to all then that Akashia prefers neutrality to any action. While the other Children make war upon each other and their respective followers, she observed. When her mother awoke and cast them from Isesda, she observed.
She is perhaps most like their mother than any of the other Children and their ultimate role within the creation will no doubt reveal itself in time. This is because, while all existence is within their records, she is not a goddess of determinism. Though something may be known, it still both is and and is not to happen until it occurs and becomes past. The limitless possibilities of countless free-willed beings within their mother's creation are all simultaneously true for Akashia, granting them a unique persepective.
While she offers no antagonism toward any of their siblings, some do resent them for their neutrality. This is perhaps why Akashia and Tyn are so frequently associated with one another, both preferring to separate themselves from the conflict if for very different reasons.
Divine Domains
Akashia is the record-keeper who knows all things that have, do, or ever will exist in mortal and immortal experience alike.
Artifacts
The Everwise bears a tome which contains limitless pages and holds a metaphysical capacity to help the current Everwise endure the weight of knowledge which comes with the position. This tome is a gift from Akashia.
There are a number of masks which have appeared throughout the ages and are said to be artifacts of Akashia with the ability to obscure an observer from the observed. If such masks are genuine, they would certainly fit within the sphere of Akashia.
Holy Books & Codes
To the faithful of Akashia all books and similar mediums of record-keeping are sacred.
Divine Symbols & Sigils
A blue face, often seen on the cover or pages of a book, is routinely associated with Akashia. Additionally, turtles, herons, owls, foxes, eagles, crabs and blue gemstones are tied to her. Flax and cotton are tied to her through their use in papermaking, though this connection extends to any material uses for writing in the various parts of the world.
Tenets of Faith
Akashia imparts very little to her followers as an extension of their position as an observer, but there are a few known demands which are generally attributed to them.
- Do not interfere where it is not your place. Do not hesitate to do so where it is, for you too are part of events.
- To destroy knowledge and history is a terribly violent act.
- Creation is the essence of the All-Mother and must be preserved.
Divine Goals & Aspirations
She seeks only to record creation as it unfolds before them. To know all things before they happen and yet be surprised in the happening is their greatest joy.
Physical Description
General Physical Condition
There are many depictions of Akashia across Isesda just as she is known by many names. The only unifying factor is the color blue, sometimes associated with her skin, other times hair or eyes or clothes.
For example in Avalier, and among many of the surrounding peoples, she is pictured as a blue crystal mask, expressionless, wreathed in tawny feathers and sometimes seen atop a nude humanlike body wandering the icefloes and snowdrifts.
In Axia however she is seen as a faceless elderly woman with long grey hair trailing behind their flowing blue robes thought to inhabit ancient places and caches of knowledge.
Whatever their true form, mortals have certainly been creative in the imaginings.
