Spriggans

Spriggans are Feykith bound to elemental metal. They are the shortest of the Feykith, often standing as short as three feet, and they have the magical ability to reduce their size or fade into shadow. They usually have dusky, metallic skin, black hair, and metallic grey eyes. They are also unique among the Feykith in that they have natural wings with a gossamer, metallic-black sheen.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Spriggans are naturally short statured and lean, standing between 3 and 3 1/2 feet in height and weighing as little as 20 pounds. Their skin tends to be a dusky brown shade with a slight metallic sheen. This metallic appearance extends to the translucent wings that sprout from the Spriggan's lower shoulder blades and to their otherwise solid black eyes. They are proportionally similar to humans, if leaner and with more developed back and shoulder muscles to control their wings.

Genetics and Reproduction

Spriggans tend to reproduce only with other Spriggans which is why they are somewhat less common than other Feykith. Still they are capable of reproducing with any other Feykith and some Spriggans with a greater stature claim mixed ancestry. They usually produce twins or triplets after a 14-month gestation period.

Growth Rate & Stages

Spriggans tend to form close-knit family units which include several generations of the family. Adulthood is usually reached around 30 years of age and lifespans usually end around 200.

Ecology and Habitats

Spriggans are most common on some of the southern Reman islands, though they are found across the continents. They tend to avoid colder regions and open fields or tundra.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Spriggans are hunters and subsist almost entirely on wild game which they season with shaved metal and some peppers. Their food is usually dangerous for non-Spriggans to eat.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

More than most other Feykith, Spriggans are at home in the dark. They have a natural ability to see in the dark and can distingush surprising detail.
