The Colossi
There are beings lying dormant, awaiting the word of the All-Mother, which have in them the power to utterly devastate Isesda and leave it nothing but a flat, barren waste. They are here as warning to the Children. Should they quarrel over creation again, there will be no creation over which to fight. The All-Mother will not see her world destroyed by the bickering of her eldest. There are 13, mirroring the 13 Children and reminding them always why the colossi exist.
The colossi themselves are, as the name implies, enourmous behings of divine destruction. They appear to be fashioned from natural materials, with each appearing in a fitting form given its surroundings. While dormant they are easily missed by mortals even were they to walk across the very face of one. Few mortals even known of the existence of the colossi, merely a handful of scholars and the current Everwise. All agree that the times the All-Mother has neared awakening were the very razor edge of doom for all living things.
It is this threat, perhaps more than any divine barrier or command, which dissuades the Children from open conflict. And so the endless machinations and workings done through mortal agents continue, quietly warring under Mother's sleeping nose.
