Currency in Isidoro

About

The Main currency in Isidoro is issued in two forms, being bills and coins. When the first species of Isidoro began to trade with one another, goods simply exchanged hands, beneficial to both parties. As society advanced, the trading of goods shifted, and dragons began to trade things from their hoards. Eventually, this shifted to a gem standard, and then to the current usage of bills and coins that you see today, though it still has its roots in Draconic imagery and the gem standard.   The currency's common name is Haraamn and numismatist and etymologists have debated that this is a butchering of the Draconic word Ha’rragm as it was spoken through fair and wild folk tongues before being spoken in Common. Older individuals within dragon, fae, and elven communities sometimes struggle with how the term has changed and become colloquial.

Bills and Coins

Bills

Isidoro Bills

Isidoro's bills come in iterations of 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100. They are made of a plastic-like material, and display landmarks from all across Isidoro, aiming to not put one territory above another in terms of importance. This is achieved by specifically not including monuments or noteworthy buildings; it is instead meant to symbolize the beauty of Isidoro's varied ecosystems.   There are multiple anti-counterfeiting measures within the bills, such as holographic centers. The holographic circles shine in the light, and not not only continue the layout of the scenery printed on the bill itself, but have an image of a species interacting with said ecosystem. To add to the difficulty in making illegitimate copies, the sides of the bills are semi-transparent and have runes hidden within.   Each bill is meant to symbolize a gemstone that would typically be found within a dragon's hoard, and their names and colouring are meant to pay homage to it as well. More details specific to each bill will be below, with individual images of each bill.

Coins

The coin currency of Isidoro is a circle of semi-precious to common metal, encasing a flat disc of common gemstone. These are also ranked among the rarity of the stone, along with how common it would be within a dragon's hoard. The first three are circled in copper, and the others are encased in silver and gold. Subtle runes have been sculpted into the edges of the metal to aid in anti-counterfeiting measures; they're so small that to recreate them one would need a powerful magnifying glass and an incredibly small tool.   The coins of Isidoro and their worth are as follows:

This is the Smo, which represents 5¢. It is a thin disc of Smokey Quartz stone, surrounded by rune carved copper. It is the lowest valued coin within Isidoro.

This is the Ame, which represents10¢. It is a thin disc of Amethyst stone, surrounded by rune carved copper. It is the second lowest valued coin within Isidoro.

This is the Roos, which represents 25¢. It is a thin disc of Rose Quartz stone, surrounded by rune carved copper. It is the largest valued coin that is wrapped with copper.

Uncommon Currency

While the main currency is Haraamn, there are places where this currency is un-usable, mainly with aquatic species that live solely underwater. Species such as water dragons and mermaids use an assortment of shells to use as currency.
