The Knights of Slaughter

"I heard you went out beyond our territory, Mikahl." A large and imposing dark dragon with deep mullberry purple fur flew up to their daughter, who had curled upside down to crawl into her roost. The mother clawed at the rock of the cave they lived in to settle outside her roost.   "It's not a big deal mah. Everyone flies out over the bluff! I was hunting!" The daughter's dual set of curved horns clicked against the roost as she huffed, her chest fluff grew in size.   "You're too young to be hunting alone as well. Do you know why we tell you and the others to stay in sight of the elders and adults?"   "Because you like to be creepy!" The daughter, smaller and lighter coloured, stuck her tongue out.   "No darling, because of the Knights of Slaughter."

Summary

If a dragon child misbehaves, do you know what happens? The Knights of Slaughter will come and take you away....The method is never 100% the same, but the answer is the same: the dragon is taken away from their family and every part of them is scrapped and used for non-dragons to wear or use in medicine, or other unsavory means.   The detail the parent goes into is dependent on the age of their child, and of course the name may be tweaked to not sound as dark but the message is strong.   If you don't behave, they'll take you away forever.

Historical Basis

The Knights of Slaughter is a boogieman figure that dragonsuse as a means to keep their young close to them, and well behaved. Dragons were constantly hunted in olden times, and now it is illegal to do so.   But that doesn't stop the Knights of Valor from killing without restraint or mercy. Young and old dragons are at risk, but the young especially due to their size and lack of experience in defending themselves against something as smart as them.   This myth caries a grain of truth to it; that if a dragon were to wander off...What would really happen to them?
