Currency Within The Five Kingdoms

Historical Overview:

Many of the coins that exist in circulation today within The Five Kingdoms of man were minted during the glory days of its previous kingdom, The Kingdom of Man.     There are four symbols that correlate to the four classes of the coin; Copper, Silver, Gold, Platinum. Each has its own meaning and lore behind it, and some are known more than others.   Copper Spear: All copper coins are minted with a spear, which as the lowliest currency was the most common and lowliest weapon of the times. The spear represented the average soldiers, the backbone of The Empire. Unintended silver soon became the most traded coin in the five kingdoms.   Silver Crowns: Most silver coins are minted with crowns, and some are minted with castles. Silver is often referred to as the compromise coin, usually because it is paid to make up for a commoner's lack of gold. Although, there is an old story that has another origin for the name of the coin. Back during the first days of High King Torin I's rule, the nobles demanded that they be represented on the platinum coin, the symbols of The Five Great house minted on different coins. After some battling of wit and words, they settled on allowing crowns to represent nobles of the silver coin.    Gold Dragons: Most gold coins are minted with a curled, snarling dragon. Gold is not the currency of commoners, it is seldom used by them for everyday trading and is usually reserved for paying taxes, or finer treats in life. For Adventurers, Nobles, Merchants, warriors gold is almost as important as blood or mana. Gold is important to pay for things like swords, armor, potions, and herbs. The dragon is used on the coin because it is revered as it is rare.    Platinum Moon: The platinum coin, something that many common villagers will never see in their lives. Platinum can spur men from plowshare to sword, and bend the winds of trade simply by glaring its radiant glow. It's because of its pure ghostly white radiance that it was minted with the symbol of the ever-present Pearlflynt moon.
