Kea (English: /ˈkiːə/)

The kea (nestor sapiens) is a species of large parrot originating in the South Island but having spread and settled throughout the Known World. Characterized by their high intelligence and cognitive skills, kea have been able to thrive in all types of environments and have formed complex societies and civilizations. Kea are highly social and tends to form large social structures, from families and kinship networks to political entities.
Kea live anywhere from 35 to 45 years. They are omnivorous in nature, eating a range of foods from artificially-selected agricultural products to hunted meat.
