Kindmount Founding Myth

The tale of the founding of Kindmount is recounted by Kindmountians themselves as the earliest form of their city's history. The story placed the founding of Kindmount at (-22 YT (3971 HE), and credits the mythical figure of Mountainchild the Bird for the city's founding.

The Tale

As the story goes, Mountainchild the Bird was abducted, along with his parents, by a giant Deathclaw. He was brought to its nest high in the mountains, and his parents were eaten in front of him.
Just as the deathclaw was about to eat Mountainchild, a large block of ice fell from the mountain and killed the predatory bird. Then, a white bellbird came, and sang a song to comfort Mountainchild. It guided him slowly down the mountain. As he descended, it felt like a path had been carved out just for him: ice and snow seemed to somehow have been melted, vegetation mysteriously cleared, to form a path to the forested area at the feet of the mountain. The bellbird accompanied Mountainchild all the way to the Mother Lake (OTL Diamond Lake), and entrusted him to the care of the large lake. The bellbird returned up to the mountain, having accomplished its purpose.
Mountainchild the Bird named the mountain the Generous Mountain, and promised to make it remembered and recognized throughout the world. He founded the city of Kindmount where he was brought. The earth proved fertile, the lands full of Moa and other huntable birds. Thus Kindmount was founded, and indeed the name of the Generous Mountain (OTL Mount Earnslaw / Pikirakatahi) would be remembered.
