Moa

Moa are a group of large flightless birds endemic to the Known World. There are nine species of Moa, spread across the North and South Island. The two largest species reach about 3.6 metres (12 ft) in height with neck outstretched, and weigh about 230 kilograms (510 lb) while the smallest is around 100-125 cm in height. Moa are an important animal to many groups and peoples around the world. In most of the Vast South, Moa were considered warrior-like and powerful animals, and were regularly bred, eaten, and/or hunted, except in the Violet Coast, where they were generally considered sacred. Moa were considered more lowly in the northern parts of the world, and were similarly a common food item.
