This elderly, yet hale man was a veteran of Absalom's city guard who "retired" to Otari a decade ago. He took up the mantle of leader of the Otari Guard after it's previous captain, Trusk Hanely, drowned in an unfortunate misadventure involving a bit too much raspberry mead and an ill-advised boast regarding how long he could hold his breath. Most of the guardsmen that served under Trask remember him fondly, whereas Longsaddle not so much as he is short-tempered, foul mouthed and much stricter than his dwarven predecessor. He is, however, well liked amongst the older, human residents of the town, as his no-nonsense, 'old-fashioned values' and dislike of certain ethnicities resonates with their conservative outlook.

Lardus has recently received a demotion of sorts. Whilst he still holds the title of Captain, he now reports directly to Cullus Absalomius, the creator of the Wheel Watch, the organization that has replaced the Otari Guard. He does this begrudgingly and resnts the fact that 'bloody bureauvrats' are now dictating the manner in which the Guard (he refuses it to call it the Wheel Watch) is run.
