Mt. Ashenfeld
Mt. Ashenfeld is a massive volcano located in the center of the Isles of Edren , on the island of Sadall. It is believed by geologists and archeologists that a massive eruption from Mt. Ashenfeld is actually what created the Isles. Standing at 30,032 feet, is the highest point in all of the Isles, with a diameter of nearly 50 miles. From its peak, on a clear day, nearly all of the island can be viewed from there. Still an active volcano, Mt. Ashenfeld's lava eruptions are non-explosive and very fluid.
Mt. Ashenfeld has played a variety of roles throughout the ages:
- Early civilizations found the land near the volcano to be fertile and great for growing crops.
- Magic users have long sought to research the magical properties of the volcano, believing magical secrets to be locked deep in the mountain.
- Home to several villages, including that of the city of Bas
- It is also the site of the Battle of Mt. Ashenfeld, which led to the formal formation of The Mages and The Engineers
Geography
Mt. Ashenfeld is the largest volcano in the Isles, with the peak being at 30,032 feet, making the highest point in all of the Isles, with a diameter of nearly 50 miles. Covering 7,850 square miles, the vast majority of the surface is solid rock. The primary crater itself spans 1.3 miles, with small off shoots and gysers spread throughout the mountains.
Tourism
Mt. Ashenfeld is one of the most popular tourist destination, offering a variety of historical, site seeing, camping, and shopping options.
-The city of Bas is popular as it is both the birthplace of Merek Bas , and one of the oldest towns in Sadall .
-For those looking to enjoy music, the Mt. Ashenfeld Ampitheater is said to be the most beautiful theater in all of Sadall, overlooking most of the Isles. It is difficult to reach, and the weather greatly affects whether or not concerts can be performed.
-Campers and hikers will sometimes rough it on the mountain, trying to reach the summit. This is oftentimes a several week journey for those that travel on foot.
