Sir/Dame

Much like many Earthen countries, the The Empire of Kanskownpqey has adopted these titles as a form of formal and official honorific. Though Earthens usually use this honorific to recognize military members, such as knights, in Issolum, they are generally used to honor those of note.
These titles were first used in Brinland before the Empire was founded, though at this time, it was used more for the people in their royal militia. Through time, other countries picked up on the practice.
However, at the start of the empire, Zane Ayrie, the new Emperor-King decided that these titles could be used more loosely. Being he a benevolent force, wishing to bring positivity to the newly united country, he handed the titles out to people who were not of noble birth or status, but had earned it through their worthy acts.
While these titles may not increase your noble standing, it is still one of the highest honors to be bestowed on an individual, especially when given by the Emperor-King. As such, this title is very coveted.
One notable figure who technically owns the title of 'Dame' is Zalaia Dahl, though she does not allow it to be slipped in to any introduction made for her at parties, and not many know she has it, even those close to her. Zane gave her the title after the (War for the Empire), as she served as a valuable mage, healer, and ally. 
Those who receive the title participate in a ceremony to celebrate them as an individual, their accomplishments, and their deeds to the Empire or the royal family in general.
