The Sagu Desert
A vast desert stretching across a large swath of the southeastern part of the continent, the Sagu is as hot and nearly unlivable as most tropic deserts tend to be. A combination of a variety of sized dunes, canyons, and hard sand walls and structures make up its topography. There are few known to have crossed its length and survived, and even fewer known to have inhabited its harsh climate. There is, however, one small tribe, known as the Geshdun, that have successfully called the land home for most of their peoples existence.
Despite the harsh conditions and scarce resources, there are multiple species of flora and fauna that call this desert home, eking out a living in oases or out of them, with remarkable adaptations to the scathing hot days, icy cold nights, and rarity of water.
Landmarks
One notable landmark is a towering pillar of rock known as The Devil's Needle, towering almost 700 ft. in the air. It is located in one of the most inhospitable parts of the desert; the surrounding area known for even harsher temperature extremes in the day and night. It is well known for breaking multiple records. The area is suspected to be mana bleached, as a strong magic presence can be sensed in a radius of several miles out, and hardly any plant or animal life can be found around it. Investigating the source of the mana bleach has proven to be difficult, as most pack animals are deterred by such a strong presence of magic energy and balk or flee.Inhabitants
While the only tribe known to live deep in the desert is the Geshdun, many other tribes make their home on the edges of the desert, at the boundaries between isolation and resources.
