Malachai

Malachai is the prince of the Eldaren and leader of their armies. He has fought for over five hundred years to preserve the Eldaren way of life, The Source, and the safety of the Mortal Realms from the forces of the Drakhari. He has known nothing but war his entire life, and was raised solely for that purpose. He will one day be King of the Eldaren, but until that day he acts as their general in the field.

Personal history

Malachai grew up in the Eldaren capitol of Sithis, trained from a young age to be both a warrior and a leader. He has had a stark life with little time for pursuits outside of his destined role as leader of his people in a time of perpetual war. He often found time for his sister, Sira, when they were children. While he trained with the sword, she learned of how to bend The Source. They often would escape from their lessons into the palace gardens and there hide from their responsibilities, even if for just a short while.
As they grew older, they grew apart. While Sira became more of an optimist, Malachai became more stoic and grim. Facing a lifetime of war that might last over a thousand years, he saw little use for merriment. Even among a people hardened by generations of conflict, Malachai is considered by many to be jaded.

Intellectual Characteristics

While he is often stoic and cynical, there are times when Malachai can show a glimmer of the child-like innocence he lost long ago. These rare occasions are always inspired by the presence of his sister, Sira, but they are often short-lived.
Malachai, despite his dour outlook on life and the future of the war, is a fair and just leader. He demands much from his warriors, but he respects their accomplishments and reprimands them for their failures with a measured tone. He is a skilled instructor, as well, and will often take advantage of what some would consider a disaster to teach those he leads how to avoid just such a failure in the future. Because of this, he is highly respected by his warriors and he has crafted a cadre of highly skilled fighters who also are quick to think on their feet and adapt to changing situations.
