Shrine of the Pilgrim's Grace

The Shrine of the Pilgrim's Grace is located at the foot of the Cragoran Mountains just outside of the town of Kallenston. It is reputed to be the actual location of the meeting between Kallen and the mysterious figure known only as Kallen's guide. As the legend of Kallen's Pilgrimage to meet the Divines is the central tenant of the Temple of the Divines, this small shrine sees a steady influx of new pilgrim's retracing Kallen's steps every day.

The building itself is a simple affair far less grandiose than the temples found in major cities such as Brisburgh. The main entryway is reached by ascending seven rough-cut stone steps symbolic of the seven Divines, the seven-fold truth, and the seven-fold path. Climbing these steps also represents Kallen's trek up the mountains at the end of his own journey. Upon entering the shrine, a Speaker meets pilgrims in a small alcove where their feet must be washed in a shallow pool of water fed by mountain streams, symbolic of both washing the grime of the long journey away and of leaving impurities behind before meeting the divines. The central alcove is a round room ringed by statues of each of the divines, where pilgrims might 'meet' them. Offerings are left by almost all who journey to the shrine, ranging from the humble to the extravagant. While intended for the divines themselves, these offerings would soon fill the shrine to bursting. The Speakers who tend the shrine clean out some of the offerings every day, leaving just enough to keep the practice going, and much of what is given is sent to fill the coffers of the Temple.
