The Sight
Sometimes an individual has seen too much. Sometimes, they see things that shouldn't be there. The Sight is a condition that seems to strike at random with little to no warning. A person may be struck with the sight as a child, or they might live a long and productive life before the affliction strikes.
The snarvlibin keep taking my shoes! A patient in an asylum for those with The Sight.
Those who suffer from The Sight seem only partially aware of the world around them. They will ramble on about seeing or experiencing things that no other around them is aware of. Even two patients in the same room might describe wildly differing experiences. Those who survive the condition long enough for it to progress will eventually enter trance-like states where they are completely oblivious to the world around them for hours or even days at a time. When the leave the trance, they describe sights and experiences so fantastic as to defy any mortal reckoning.
Some have observed that The Sight is similar to The Knowing, an affliction that strikes matriarchs of the Bravani who utilize the gift of foresight to divine future events for their clan or practice the art of fortune telling for outsiders. Balaeron Marcovici himself has written a treatise on the subject, and he has concluded that the otherworldly experiences described by patients of both conditions draw many parallels and share many common themes. Some are convinced even that the other world that those who suffer from The Sight and The Knowing is a real place.
