Monks come in many forms throughout Istralar, always linked to religion or faith in one way or another. Monk orders often form alongside religious sects, serving as a quiet, disciplined way to assist in the worship of specific gods.
Some monastic orders focus not only on discipline and order, but on the application of these things to combat. They develop ways of fighting that utilise the human body and common tools, eschewing fanciful swords in favour of plain staves and fists.
