There are many who have thought to cross the Blind Queen. There are few who have survived the attempt.

No ordinary person should rule a nation. The silvery skin, white eyes and pale tattoos adorning Surma's skin would immediately forbid her from being considered 'ordinary' alone, even without the rest of her tale being brought into consideration. She has ruled Vuorenmaa for the past decade since the death of her husband, and has developed a reputation for being cold, distrustful, and scarily calm. Under her reign, Vuorenmaa has focused far more on its defences than wanton attacks as it had in the past.
She is blind, as her title suggests, and yet it does not hold her back: she can hold her own in a fight, and is a monster in verbal duels. Some suggest that it was her husband's failings that saw to his death, rather than the blade of an assassin, given his wife's dislike of failure - time has yet to reveal if this dark implication is correct.
Like many citizens of Vuorenmaa, she maintains familial relations in a number of Iskaldhan nations - Naarim chief among them. Despite their distance, their nations remain close.
