Lif

Lif is a poltergeist whose spirit is bound to Trollskull Manor. 20 years ago, Lif bought Trollskull Manor and opened it up as a combination inn and tavern. His business was successful and he was a big hit with a lot of the other long-term residents in Trollskull Alley. Lif passed away about 10 years ago after contracting an incurable disease. The manor was closed, and fell into disrepair before being totally condemned. After the heroes acquired the deed to Trollskull Manor, they found it was haunted by Lif's restless spirit. Objects were knocked over and threatening messages were written in the dust on the windows. Both invisible and unable to speak, the party found ways around the communication barrier to find out why Lif was haunting their new home. Over time, the party learned that all Lif wanted was to have the bar restored to its former glory, both in business and reputation. Nowadays, Lif happily slings drinks at the Smoke & Stagger, impressing patrons with his expert bartending skills and signature cocktails, even if most of the customers can't see him.
