Clockwork
The clockwork are mechanical constructs made from metal, plating, gears, wires, bits of spring, and cogs, powered by a soulstone stored in a compartment somewhere within the clockwork's body. The soulstone is imbued to the machine via a complex magical process, recently developed by the engineers of Koghollow, a process whom few are able to master and fewer willing to attempt.
In addition to the soulstone which fuels their personality, all clockworks have a key somewhere on their body which, while wound up, allows them to move, think and act like living creatures, much like they did in their previous lives.
Many affluent nobles seek to transfer their souls into clockwork vessels, as a way to immortalize their existence via undying, untiring and easily replaceable bodies.
