Ivaenlis is a world surrounded by a trio of artificial moons: Iryea, Illithea and Odylea. Each of these satellites is, in fact, the solitary prison of an accursed god, one of the Betrayers. The remaining gods remained vigilant for millennia, but when life was nearly wiped out from Ivaenlis during the final moments of the Age of Fables, the gods decided to watch over the planet, instead. With the dawn of the Age of Seers, the gods imbued a few chosen souls - the Seers - with some of their miraculous power, hoping the Seers would be capable of defending Ivaenlis. For a time, the decision proved wise: the Seers brought magic and miracles to a world otherwise devoid of unnatural phenomena. But it was all brought to an end when one of the Betrayers, Khyarus, God of Desperation, created a Seer of his own, Qhiean the Breaker, who through ingenuity and deception managed to shatter Odylea. The fragments of the celestial body scarred the surface of Ivaenlis. All seemed lost. Were it not for Davna, Goddess of Hope, it would be, but through her sacrifice the planet was spared. The remaining gods fought a desperate battle with the recently-freed Khyarus and eventually managed to entrap the Betrayer deep beneath the lands of Esas. Inconsolable from the death of their beloved sister, the gods retreated once more to their previous state of vigilance and now mostly remain silent, making the world seemly devoid of Seers. Davna's passing was not without consequence: her essence imbued the land with magic and, over the years, inumerable creatures became capable of syphoning the latent magical energies which now encircle Ivaenlis. Now, through the varied landscapes marked by the fall of Odylea a new age dawned, an Age of Magic.
