Hvílavegr
Hvílavegr, the Resting Place, is an old haven for the elves, from times before their most severe battles with the dragons. Sea-faring elves and winged elves would live there, homes built on poles among the rockscape. They would make a living on fishing and on crafting very sturdy fishing nets that they would sell, as well as trinkets made from offerings from the sea and face powder made from seashells and the like. The elves of Hvílavegr were pescetarian and used rich levels of salt, which they would purchase from the markets where they would sell their superfluid fish and crafts.
Upon the beginning of dragons engaging the winged elves in battle over the dominion of the sky, Hvílavegr was repeatedly attacked by dragons and their ilk, as a way to frighten them away. They said that as long as winged elves remained in Hvílavegr, they would return to crush their home again and again, which they kept on doing. The houses on the stones were repeatedly burned, repeatedly crushed, and the elves barely had any time to rebuild before the dragons once more would return. This led to a fissure forming between elves with wings and those without, until the winged elves were forced out of the village. Many would be chased by dragons as they fled, leading to their demise in the open sea or the mountains surrounding the region the archipelago is located within.
As a result of the winged elves being forced to leave, the efficiency at which the elves would fish at declined, and the amount that was caught quickly dwindled. They knew how much they relied on the winged elves to be stealthy predators, yet they seemed to forget it in their desire to be rid of the dragons. This would lead to a decline in quality of life in the region, and the quickly rising misery attracted ghouls, beasts that live off of negative emotions, and the like. This lead to more and more elves leaving their home for better pastures. When the inhabitants started to see the spirits of winged elves, those driven out for the rests survival, mangled and upset, they would flee without bringing anything with them. Eventually, it would leave Hvílavegr empty, with buildings precariously resting on rotting poles, withering walls, and an unwelcoming ghost town where nobody could live, or barely even set foot due to the large amount of monsters now dwelling there.
