Cosmology

Iveomos is one of the worlds at the center of a Great Wheel Cosmology with other realms existing on the prongs including the various celestial, elemental, and fiendish worlds. Iveomos represents the balance of all influences of the outer realms. The Shadowfell and the Feywild are able to penetrate the world in areas of intense negative or positive magic respectively. Some scholars believe that Iveomos is quite literally an island adrift in the Astral Sea while others believe that this is simply a misinterpretation of more complicated movements in the realms.
The only physical way to leave Iveomos is by sailing north through the Sea of Stars with an enchanted astral ship or spelljammer. Most forms of spelljammer are exceedingly rare with less than 50 ever having been made. Astral ships are however much more common, being built fairly regularly by the northern moon elves for trips to and from Arvandor. However, there are several ways to leave Iveomos magically although this is rare and commonly involves complicated ritual magic or an extremely talented spellcaster.
