Gabriel Credence

The Noble & True King

"If you have power, be just; wealth, be generous; knowledge, be wise; titles, be humble; and life, be grateful." -Gabriel Credence   Gabriel was born the first son of King Harold Credence and lead a life of luxury. His childhood was mostly spent within the confines of his home, studying world history and practicing the art of the sword. Despite his brother Damian being five years younger than Gabriel, growing up the two were close, often preferring to stay close than to spend time with other children in the palace. Even though Damian moved to Ackordan to take place on the governing the poor, the two remain close, spending time together alone whenever they are given the chance. More recently Gabriel has become concerned with Damian’s actions regarding revolts in Ackordan, believing his brother has been too soft on the rioters.

A Legacy to Cement

Gabriel has become a controversial king in his later years, declining to take a bride or have children. Many believe this is because he is gay, though this is not the case. Instead Gabriel decided that the best thing for the people of Candor would be if his brother held the throne, however Damien is not well liked by the people of Candor, they believe him to be a tyrant tax collector. This is unfortunately only half false, Damien is in charge of tax collection, but it is Gabriel who sets the prices. Gabriel knows that if he abdicates the throne in favour of his brother, Candor would riot. However, if Gabriel dies and has no heir to the throne, then the people shall see his brothers crowning as less of an insult.

Gabriel would like a family, but he knows that to have a child would be to take a chance on his nation he loves so much. The lineage of kings is a gamble that he is not willing to take, for an upbringing of luxury like the one he and his brother had does not always breed kindness. If his child was to bring ruin to Candor, he would never forgive himself.

The First Confederacy Of Jafare

During the beginning of the Istartian conflict King Gabriel Credence was called upon to aid in the discussions from various nations of Jafare as to what do do about the Istarti and their annexing of Whupbril. He agreed to the proposal of a confederacy to deal with the Istarti for those who wished something to be done, this was an popular decision amongst his party as the two main speakers were not of any one nation, but were instead two mercenary groups; that of the Dawnstars and of The Heroes of Teskelia.   After listening to the arguments for involvement, both for and against, Credence and the rest of the committee decided that the Istarti would not stop their conquest until they had come for the rest of Jafare. He along with President Windfall of Iarwynn, King Arthur Izador of Newtongrav, King Thetsu of Teskelia, King Kragwick Togwinborn of Bondstone and the Jarls of the Donheil Isles drafted the treaty of the first Confederacy of Jafare; an agreement to stop the Istartian threat before it becomes any greater. The treaty and subsequent war was a success, and Candor received The Dry Steps after the death of the emperor and defeat of Istartian armies, which he released back to Farli Madrisso upon acceptance. This victory in war cemented King Credence as the one of the greatest leaders in Candor history. Showing his skill as a politician, an ambassador, and a general.
