Hus Grata

INTRODUCTION

The eternal war of Hus Grata and Hus Firma has been going on for hundreds of years, the ancient Nordic tribes across the channel has been razing and flattening each other's settlements for as long as records have begun.   Depending on which faction you ask, the war started for one of two reasons. If you ask anyone from Hus Firma, they will tell you the legend of the Donheil brothers, a valiant and noble set of twins who started many of the towns that make up the Icy wastes. One day one of the towns started to declare the war on another, Firma tried to to stop the attacking town and Grata betrayed him, choosing to instead join in on the raping and pillaging. If you ask a resident of Hus Grata why the war started they will tell you that it was Grata who attempted to stop the town from violence and it was Firma who betrayed his brother and people. It was thought both brothers died in the conflict.

Tirak

A relatively small city, cursed with eternal winter and dark skies. The inhabitants are polite and trusting, though it’s known that the government is always spying on them, and keeps making problematic people disappear. The Jarl, a man named Folfir Dürnsonn is a strict and callous man, patrolling the streets himself at times to ensure the streets are clean. The Stict rulings and disappearances of those who dissent has proven to actually improve morale in Tirak as the people have a fundamental rules they that if they break, they believe will bring a plague to the entire town.   Jarl Dürnsonn was an instigating force in the return to war with Hus Firma. Many of the other Jarls take issue with his

Cinos

The town situated at the base of the least hospitable mountain ranges in the world. Yet a monumental hot spring graces the caldera where the town meets the floor. Hus Firma are unwilling or unable to claim the town, since any army would be worn down by the inhospitable flanks of the mountain range. This suits the insular Cinos people just fine- they have little need for traders. There are less than two thousand Cinos people, all told, mostly human, but with some immigrants who have fled up the peaks, or immigrated in order to pursue a simpler life. They raise goats and other hardy livestock, as well as a few crops adapted to the rarified air, but at such an altitude they can’t grow any trees. For wood, the men of the village descend past the clouds and beneath the tree line during the warmest summer days to spend much of their time logging. The wood is stockpiled in warehouses for use the rest of the year.   The Jarl of the town Jarl Lostnir has a distrust of outsiders, but will accept any into the town if they are willing to aid in the town with any sort of issue; be it aiding in logging to dealing with a yeti problem.

Old Ashton

The town of Lochfort is the largest settlement of Hus Grata. The town's whole economy is built around fishing and the hunting of yetis for fur, some of the strongest warriors on the planet are raised in the harsh wilderness surrounding Old Ashton. The town is the largest of all settlements in Hus Grata and as such is the capitol. Is is safely defended by being situated on an island in the center of frozen lake. In times of conflict they can defend the town by breaking the ice around the town and becoming an island.   Lothgar Hammerborn the Jarl of Old Ashton is also the king of Hus Grata. He has met Grata Donheil himself and signed the treaties of peace. He has angered many of his fellow Jarls by being an outspoken defender of the peace treaty.
