A day at Ciarn University

A cool ocean breeze blew over the northern edges of Ciarn, bringing some momentary relief from the heat to but the smallest portion of the massive city. Ciarn University sat in the perfect place to enjoy such a breeze, right at the water's edge.   Kabo wiped the hallucinations from her eyes as the breeze made her hair messier than usual. The coming down was always the hardest part; being on the university's roof did soften the sting, though, especially during days where the weather was too good. She kicked Roke, hoping he was back, but was responded to with unintelligible grumbling. She rolled over onto her stomach and pushed herself up to a squatting position before patting her pouch.
Empty... shit.
She didn't feel like dealing with the masks right now. Hedderick always had some extra, though. She'd have to ask him whenever possible.   Kabo stood up and walked drearily to the roof's edge. The ocean view was both beautiful and terrifying to her. She chewed the inside of her cheek and looked down to see if the coast was clear, only to be met with a pair of eyes looking back at her from below. She let out half of a swear as she jumped back away from the edge. Did they see her? Of course they did! Shit, shit...   Bernard closed his notebook and set it on the round table in front of him, sitting on a terrace slightly above street level, looking over the low railing, facing the wind. Eyes closed, lost in thought.
He slowly turned his head away from the cool breeze, and back and over the rest of the city, observing the everyday hustle of it's inhabitants, quietly sipping the drink sitting next to his notebook.   Professer Morvell narrowed his eyes, catching someone not where they should be. He didn't have the time, or energy, to go chasing wayward students though. Looking around him he noticed one he recognized, close enough to hear him. Perfect.
"MR. ELSTON!" he called to get the young man's attention.   Bernard looked up from his chair, slightly turning his head, holding the cup
"Something wrong?"   "If there wasn't I wouldn't be yelling." Morvell snapped uncharitiably. "There are hoolagains on the roof and I want you to bring them to the headmaster's office. Hoolagains Mr. Elston."   Bernard grunted "I'm not sure why this is my issue. I'm a little busy." He motioned to the notebook with the cup in his hands.   Kabo covered her mouth, her heart rate skyrocketing after hearing the shouting. She couldnt exactly make out what they were saying down there, but knew it wasn't wise to hang around too long. She looked back at her small group of friends, all of which were off in their own respective dimensions while lying on their backs or sides. She swore under her breath like a twelve year old amateur rapper trying not to wake their parents, and lowered onto her stomach to slide over to the edge and peek down at what was going on.   "Shouldnt you send someone who is equipped for the task? Do all other administrators have something more important to do?"   "It's your issue becasue I said it was." The disgruntled professor huffed, then calmed himself. "What I mean is.. That you are an excelent studient, perhaps you could set these.. hooligans.. on the right path."   Bernard scoffed "who's gonna listen to me? I'm an innovator, not a councilor..." he set down the cup, and picked up the notebook   The professor's eye seemed to twitch slightly.   "Who are we dealing with this time?" Bernard asked reluctantly "More importantly, have they touched my projects?"   "I wasn't able to catch a good look." The professor rubbed his temples. "They're hooligans Elston, its what they do."   "Did they skip class again?" he chuckled. "right well... since this isnt a problem that will solve itself, where is this trouble maker?"   "Highly likely." He turned his nose up and sneered at the very thought of class skippers. "On the roof."   Bernard glanced up to the roof of the building   "I have a meeting to be in right now, but I'll give you good marks for your assistance."   "yeah, okay, you'll only cover for the three points I missed on the last exam, because Prof. Midgley is an idiot." he drops the notebook back on the table, next to the half empty cup   "That can be arranged yes. Perfect."   Bernard sighed and squinted toward the roof, thinking of a path to make his way up there to hide from Professor Morvell   Morvell nodded, satisfied with how things turned out even if he was expecting less resistance. He turned on his heel and started off, believing he'd done his part.   too lazy to walk all the way inside, and take the elevator to the roof, Bernard decided to use the side of the building as a ladder, and get up to the roof of the building   Kabo watched as the student approached. If there was one thing that came close to scaring her as much as deep bodies of water and various other unmentioned inanimate objects or scenarios that she had phobias of, it would be teachers pets. And this guy, THIS GUY, looked like a real ass-smoocher. She debated ditching her comatose companions to keep herself out of hot water, but, she'd rather not throw them under the bus... And risk losing her hook-ups as a result. She rummaged through her bag and took out a taped-over can or some sort of aerosol, presumably hairspray or something of the like, and a worn-looking thin cloth. She hopped on her toes, thinking of excuses, or at least of a way to dispose of a snitch without attracting unwanted attention. Shit, shit, shit...   the building façade is trivial, and in no time flat, he hops over the edge of the roof, and plants both of his feet on the flat roof he dusts off his hands on his pants, and glances half around the roof and walks towards the actual entrance onto the roof
"Anyone out here?"
"If so, why? It's friggin hot up here."   "Nuh uh!" Kabo yelled in return, swaying in place as the chemicals made the rounds again.   bernard sighed and put his hand on his face
"well you're obviously not sober... Where do you think you are?"   "None of your business, buster!" Kabo crouched down, not knowing exactly where the voice was coming from, and tried to sneak around and find Bernard before he found her.   "I dont care what you're up to, just take it somewhere that dosent have any administrators delagating jobs to people who dont want them. There's a thousand other buildings with rooftops here."   Kabo stopped. "This is our secret spot. No one ever comes up here. And the view is nice." She frowned, wanting to be on her back again, feeling like she was somewhere else. She put a hand over her mouth, suddenly feeling as if she could vomit.   "Do you go here? Dont you have a class to be attending?"
"It generally isnt a good idea to attend linear algebra drunk, if you're taking it..."   After taking a couple deep breaths of fresh air, Kabo responded, "Yeah, I go here. I don't... I don't want to go to class, right now." She slowly walked towards where the voice was coming from. She thought about, and appreciated, the underuse of the university's large rooftops.   "Right, well.. I've got things to do, maybe stick to the terraces?" Bernard glanced around "Hey! I'm all for rolling around in the rafters and dropping weights into theoretical physics lectures, because it makes things interesting.."   Getting a shock after walking directly into Bernard's view, Kabo points her aerosol can at him, and sprays a harmless mist into the air for a couple seconds, that quickly dissipates. She is nowhere near close enough to him for him to even so much as smell the gas. She blinks, her chemically altered brain trying to catch up with the real world. "Th.. There's more where that came from, yo!"   "uh, okay"

Kabo let out a long-winded "Fuuuuuuuh..." as she fell into a squat, running out of air before completing the swear. "Don't hurt me..." She put the rag over the top of the aerosol can and held it close to her mouth.   "uh, you dont go here..." "Just go to another roof. There's more roofs, go there."   Kabo huffed a deep breath of the solvent, shivering as she did so.
"I go here! I'm a... student." She sat on the ground.   "mhm.."
“Get lost and don’t piss off the administrators..” he opened the roof access door   It was then that Maude decided to move. She jumped for the guy that was talking to Kabo. Unfortunatly he had just opened the door and she got wacked in the face with it.   “Hey there. You were in the way of my door.”   "Thats my door and you know it." She whimpered, rubbing her nose.   “You weren’t using it so I borrowed it.” He continues down the corridor "Morvell said check it out, so, i checked it out.."   "What are you gonna do anyway? its just a bunch of junkies that found a hidden spot they like.."
