The Ackramorian Imperial Army
Structure
The modern Ackramorian Army is comprised of Legions and Magions. Legions are and have made up the majority of the Imperial Army since its creation nearly a millennium ago. The Ackramorian Legions are comprised of approximately 5000 soldiers each, primarily heavy infantry. These units are highly effective in open conflict and take to defending fortifications well. The Legions are the primary enforcers of imperial interests, but lack flexibility on their own.
"Magion" is a catchall term for the more specialized irregular units utilized for specific battlefield roles demanded by warfare in the current age. Magion units include triage and medical support, cavalry units (also referred to as Ecuyer), siege units, war mage units, eccetera. If Legions are the backbone of the Imperial Army, the Magions are the muscle and sinew.
While Ackramorian Legions may be seen operating on their own during peacetime operations, an Army Group on campaign is a diverse organism which centers around the Legion element. Ecuyer or cavalry Magions secure the flanks of the Legion element and opportunistically harass vulnerable targets. War mage Magions are essential for countering enemy casters as well as providing magical aid to the Legion element. Triage units dutifully carry out the task of accounting and caring for soldiers wounded in combat and those ailing from illnesses common to the campaign trail. Triage units often provide religious services as well, but in the case where it is deemed necessary (usually in the case of a very large Army Group) a separate Magion unit comprised of war priests and prominent worshipers from the Pantheons of Innocence and Virtue will accompany the Army Group to petition the Gods for miracles and to validate the righteousness of their task. Historically such Magions, referred to as Ultras, have proven particularly fierce and noteworthy combatants.
Additional Magions are attached to an Army Group according to the needs of the army group and expected resistance. Siege units, additional war mage Magions and other specialized units are often attached if the objective of the Army Group involves taking fortified enemy positions or settlements. Additional Legions are attached based upon the Army Group's number of Magion elements. An Army Group is classified according to the number of Legions present.

To carry out the will of the Empire of Ackramor and its citizenry.
To defend the sovereign interests of the Empire of Ackramor.
To return the Empire to its rightful glory, as envisioned by Prime, the Ackramorian God, the God of Ackramor.
Assets
The Ackramorian Army is one of the largest on Tukarsh, second only to the Kingdom of Stonecrest in number of soldiers.
The Ackramorian Army is comprised of over 700,000 soldiers.
350,000 soldiers are very well trained heavy infantry, armed with scale mail and splint armor, a large shield and a mass produced short sword called a "Spatha." The Legionnaire is also equipped with two javelins and occasionally a lance for use in the second line of the shield wall in anti-cavalry formations. The Ackramorian Legionnaire is the premier professional soldier on Tukarsh.
320,000 soldiers comprise the Magions, and include all manner of well trained, well equipped, specialized forces.
The remaining 30,000 soldiers comprise a number of mostly non combat or non campaign roles, including logistics units and lawmen and women.
The Ackramorian Imperial Army is well equipped, well trained, and is rumored to even have some of the ancient and terrible weapons that were brought to bare for the first time in thousands of years by the armies of the rebellion during the Battle of Ackra.
In accordance with the treaty signed at the Platinum Accords, the Imperial Army has provided over 200,000 Legionnaires and soldiers from the Magions to Horizonguard. It is unclear how long this number of troops will remain under Horizonguard control now that the Second Coming of the End Times has been prevented and tensions with the Kingdom of Stonecrest continue to rise.
