Ectique

Ectique was an Ethernian tribe. First mentioned in the fifth century A.K., they became known by the Hijuandagi invasion of Sedun. Ectique was just one of many such invading tribes. Perhaps not a trait unique solely to Ectique among the tribes of Sedun, Ectique was nevertheless an odd one in that it was matriarchal and matrilineal. It was led by queens and their husbands who would be known as the "Kinyuz." The tribe of Ectique's eventual domination of all of Sedun meant that this strange societal set up would be inherited by the succeeding kingdom. It isn't clear as to when it happened, but Ectique was eventually formalized into a structure with the Mezezi Dynasty at its helm. Perhaps the Mezezi clan was revered as a spiritual group of sorts, leading Ectique in religion and ritual in the time prior to the spread of Ethaine. However, some time after the arrival of Ethaine they are thought to have taken a more active role in governing. Eventually the Ectique tribe would give way to the kingdom of Sedun] and then to the state of Ethernia, although since the early modern era, the name of Ectique seems to have been reembraced as evidenced in the name "Augustanate of Ectique."
