Nivagra
Nivagra is an island chain in the northern sea, east of Soadino. It is mostly known by the exonym "Nivagra" which was the name of a tribe in the far eastern reaches of the kingdom that commonly raided Ethanga. However, the official name of the nation is "Tovekra."
Structure
Nivagra is a confederacy of the many different islands and regions of the north sea. Each region is known as a "Voikun." All of the Voikuns are highly autonomous and are largely responsible for their own defense and stability.
Assets
Although not of the same quality as the major powers, the Nivagran navy is well-equipped and staffed. The nation also has large deposits of oil in its northern regions.
History
The Nivagrans are a seafaring people. Historically, their livelihoods, and fortunes, have rested on the sea. From fishing to raiding, the Nivagrans way of life has always been tied to the sail.
The first written records about the Nivagrans come from the Ethains around the year 1,000 A.K. However, these mentions come at a time of their later raids on the Kingdom and when they had started to invade Wesune. There may have been earlier mention of the Nivagrans by the Ethains, however such sources are lost if they ever existed.
The people in question here were the Nivagrans themselves, the peoples of the eastern archipelagos of modern day Tovekra. They had functioned as traders and raiders to the people of western and northern Ethanga for centuries. Yet during the turn of the millennium they came as conquerors. They succeeded in conquering for themselves several kingdoms in the First Great Nivagran Host, although many of them would succumb to internal and external strife within a generation.
Yet the Nivagrans held on in Kuzaklem, a large kingdom in southern Ethanga. They would return again, en masse, in 1080 a.k. However, despite a larger coalition of invading parties, the Second Great Nivagran Host had even shorter lived success than the first invasion. @Catast and Promthia both fell with ease and were claimed by warbands who established their own estates. Incursions into Furanke were also successful, although organized resistance, headed in large part by Shernshic Jurik, soon stymied further progress. Lastly, the attempts to enclose on the kingdom of Etha from the north and south were met with naval defeat, while their incursions from Promthia were dispatched of. With further success unlikely, the remaining rovers landed in Kuzaklem and bolstered that kingdom's armies.
However, Sezzlic Denk's conquest of Kuzaklem under the orders of Glerigh Jason ended Nivagran rule in southern Ethanga. In the succeeding decades, the Nivagran kingdoms in Catast and Promthia would fall under the sway of the kingdom of Furanke, the region now recovered and unified after the invasion. Eventually, with Furanke in turn succumbing to the kingdom of Etha, the Nivagran community would largely be relegated to a merchant one.
