The Incorporated States of Atelia

Atelia, also officially the Incorporated States of Atelia (Atelian: Ateleski Kardranskul Skigati), is a country in Kolaskyva. At 3,402,728.5 Square Miles, Atelia is the largest country in the world by surface area, and the third most populous, with over 650 million people at the end of Aldgurm 1929. The southern and central part of the country is much more populated and urbanized than the eastern and northern. Atelia's capital Kalakh'adrin is one of the largest cities in the world, other major urban centers include Gishsnap, Orzgurd, Lisdrin, Asana'adrin and Zhlazan.
Extending across most of Western Kolaskyva, Atelia spans only 1 time zone due to its extreme vertical nature but incorporates a wide range of environments and landforms. From northeast to southwest, Atelia shares land borders with Rutheinia, Kift'quan, and Frusthaf. It shares maritime borders with Ectique by the Sea of Okroshk and the Pride Islands across the Sirring Strait.

History

The Kathuri emerged as a recognizable group in Kolaskyva between the 7th and 5th centuries BI. Founded and ruled by a Byshkan trained warrior elite and their descendants, the classical state of Dulgth arose in the immediate preceding of the turn of the First Millennium. In 14 BI it adopted Manslatism from the conquered Rutheinian Kingdom, beginning the synthesis of Kathuri and Rutheinian cultures that defined Kathuri culture for the next millennium. Dulgth ultimately disintegrated into a number of smaller states; most of the Dulgth lands were reintegrated into a decentralized imperial authority north of the Bajgaran river or the foundation of newly re-independent Rutheinian states after centuries of turmoil. The Grand Duchy of Atelia gradually reunified the surrounding Kathuri states, achieved imperial dominance in the Dulgth empire, and came to secure the economic and political integrity and independence of Western Kolaskyva from the Ssskathik threat that had plagued the western half of the continent for centuries. By the 18th century, the nation had greatly expanded through internal unification, annexation of northern peoples, and colonialism to become the High Atelian Empire, which was the largest empire in history, by virtue of not just its Kolaskyvan expanses but also its vast colonial enterprises in Fripperland and Barnakh.
