The Battle of Bilad

Military action

1078A.K.
21/3

Fought between the kingdom of Etha and the kingdom of Belkush, the battle of Bilad followed the beginning of the Ethain invasion Legan.

In an effort to persuade the queen of Sedun to withdraw her forces from Etha, the Ethain kingdom devised an invasion plan to attack Sedun directly. Due to their poor knowledge of the region, however, the Ethain fleet accidentally arrived in Legan instead of Sedun. Without realizing their mistake, the Ethain army marched farther inland until they were met by the arrival of the local king's army.   The meeting of the two armies preceded an hour or so of a stand-off. The Ethain army eventually took the initiative, moving towards the Ethernian army. The Ethain charge was initially successful, although it eventually faltered- leading to the Ethernian army routing most of the Ethain army. The Ethain left flank held and defeated the Ethernian right, then proceeded to stalemate with the remainder of the Ethernian army. Following this, the Ethain army withdraws to its ships.   Notable participants in the battle are Sezzlic Denk, an Ethain noble, Aybeedef and Iglius, the king and heir of Belkush, and Ethel Mezezi, the heir of Sedun.   Prince Iglius died in battle, leading the king to wallow in depression. The stiff resistance by the Ethernian army led to the Ethains abandoning the campaign and returning to Etha.
