The Tieflings of Slitzfirh

The village of Slitzfirh is shrouded in secrecy and remained hidden from the world for nearly 5,000 years. This town boasts a population of 100% tieflings. Often outcast and regularly shamed or ridiculed, eventually the teiflings across the continent banded together and set off to find a new place of their own, free from influences of the rest of the world. Some obscure texts may allude to or mention this mass exodus, but their existence has largely been forgotten to time. The tieflings are also very guarded of their secrecy and isolation. Intruders are driven off or killed before they can learn of the town's existence. Those that do make it into town, do not leave. The village is governed by a council of experts, elected by the population. Town hall style meetings, with most of the town in attendence, typically determine the rules and laws of the city. The council will also often practice arbitration for disputes. Many of the sdults in town work as scouts and hunters. They keep the village safe and hidden, while also hunting for food to supplement what is cultivated or butchered. Most of the population (around 65%) regularly practice and attend religious services. They worship The Keeper, traditionally a good death and greed. However, the tiefling religion views The Keeper as neither good nor evil, but as a gatekeeper into the afterlife, where all humanoids are equal. Most homes have a small shrine with a dragonshard in the shape of a fang as a result. Any newcomers suggesting that she is evil and encourages greed in her followers will be met with disbelief. Greed is a perversion of her power and duty. She is capable of great good and great evil, just like any tiefling. There are no inns or taverns in town, since they don't really get visitors. Shops are typically small and mundane. There is two magic items shops that specialize in equipment for scouts and magic useful in the home. While they don't have a large selection of magic items, they do still regularly create a figurine of wondrous power (ebony fly). This item is essentially exclusive to this village in the world. (They also exclusively have the minor property compass that can be imbued on magic items).

Culture

Major language groups and dialects

Infernal is the exclusive language spoken in the village. Common has become so unused as to be forgotten.

Culture and cultural heritage

A very unique and strong sense of culture and commroderie has developed over 5,000 years of isolation. They are not xenophobic, but are very wary of new people and species.

Art & Architecture

Everything is compact and purposeful. There is little waste and little extravagance that might reveal their location to outsiders.

Birth & Baptismal Rites

A small family ceremony with a newborn is held, to give a blessing from The Keeper, so that the child may find their path in life, whatever it may be. Almost all families practice this, even if they do not regularly attend religious services.

Coming of Age Rites

Coming of age rituals are typically connected to the profession or craft a young tiefling wishes to practice. So for example, hunters and scouts may have a specific cermeony and trial for adolescent tieflings to graduate to full adults. Other professions may have other combinations of ceremonies and requirements.

Funerary and Memorial customs

Bodies are composted and planted beneath trees. Ceremonies are held near the village, but occasionally trees further from the village are used.

Historical figures

[Name TBD] led the tieflings from society into a new place, a haven that it is now to escape persecution.

Ideals

Beauty Ideals

Very utilitarian. Beauty that is superfluous and doesn't accomplish a necesarry task (be it scouting, hunting, homemaking, or soem other profession) is viewed as undesirable.

Gender Ideals

Gender roles are equal and there is no discernable difference between male and female capabilities.

Relationship Ideals

This can differ widely throughout the village, but generally couples are seen as monogomous, dedicated partners that respect eachother and respect eachothers skills. No particular leaning towards heterosexual or homosexual couples.
