The Red King/Queen

The Red King or Queen is chosen by Zalath during one of the afternoon shows the The Grande Mirai theatre troupe puts up for children. For the duration of the children’s play one of the kids will be crowned Red King or Queen, performing a major role in the story.

Acquisition

There are a couple of ways for this title to be acquired, this depends on what story seeds the troupe used to , this depends on what story seeds the troupe used to drive the afternoon show. One of the most used ones is the story were one of the troupe members starts as the Red King or Queen, but eventually dies, leaving the land without a ruler in the upcoming monster attack. Zalath will ask all children who are participating who wants to fill the role, listing some good characteristics the king or queen should have. Once he is happy with the selection, Zalath will choose one of the kids to fill that title.
Ultimately Zalath will always choose the child that will become the Red King or Queen, independent of which story seeds the troupe is using or what weird turn the story had already taken. This allows the half-orc to have full control about which child is chosen and make sure there are no duplicates if the troupe is in the same town for multiple days.

Coronation

Once Zalath has chosen the next King or Queen, the coronation will begin. This is a short ceremony where the chosen child will receive some props like a royal mantle in a burgundy red colour, a sceptre with a fake glass ruby and a crown with similar, but smaller, glass rubies. During the coronation, beside the King or Queen, Zalath will also chose some royal guards or advisors to be instated.

One of the core principles of Zalath is that the title of Red King or Queen will go to a deserving child. This means that if parents try and bribe him, or one of his troupe members, to let their child become King or Queen Zalath will automatically remove that child from his list of possibilities.
