The Forgotten Myth - Era of the Gods

When all was nothing, the Ancients shaped the land and sky. They conceived the Progenitors, endowing them with Creation, the power of the planet itself. Thus began the "Era of the Gods", as the Progenitors split the world amongst themselves. They created races and creatures in their own image, teaching their children how to work the land and subdue it. This era of growth was known as the "Pax Deus", though it wasn't destined to last. Tawiska, the mother of Dragons, and Himeros, the father of the Jhotun (Giants), both proud and capable, raised mighty empires. Neither could see eye-to-eye, and their relationship quickly soured. They both went about preparing for war, recruiting or coercing the other Progenitors to their side. With both fields set, the world was plunged into conflict.   The war stretched on for decades, with legendary battles shaping the very landscape of Kal'Ama. The Ancients lamented the fate of the world, and the treatment of the children used as fodder in their creators' conflict. The Ancients, determined to restore balance, selected champions among the Progenitors children, and gifted them with Creation. These champions were known as the first Planeswalkers.   The Planeswalkers struggled, but were able to banish, imprison, or defeat the most harsh among the Progenitors. Tawiska and her multi-colored children were trapped in extra-planar dimensions for all time, and Himeros, refusing to yield, was slain.   The Ancients, healed much of the damage inflicted, rejuvenating the land before heading into a deep slumber. And with that, the world saw its first era of peace in 500 years.

War of the Planeswalkers

Many of the planeswalkers led the efforts to rebuild, teaching others Creation and helping the races move past the hatred of the prior era. Others, tainted by their power, took up their own mantles of leadership, looking to conquer once again. Yet again, the world descended into war.   Another battle was fought, at which time all the planeswalkers departed Kal'Ama. Most of these planeswalkers ended up being revered as gods, making up the initial members of Kal'Ama's pantheon of deities. In the ages that followed, other Planeswalkers sprang into existence, their feats recognized by the world's Creation. Many who achieve this status follow in the first planeswalker's steps, departing the Material Plane in search of new adventure, celebrated as gods, demi-gods, and saints of their homeland.

The Age of Creation

Since this battle of the Planeswalkers, civilization has flourished. But as the Era before it, this Age must also end.
