Battle of Redhill

Written by DM-Ahsome

During the first crusade the army was split at the base of the Khazadur mountains. Until this point the armies of Eldora were moping up the remenets of the horde chasing them back north. And the leader known only as the Red General split his , his horseman would run north along the plains west of the Khazadurs while his foot troops would continue east into the highlands now known as Fenland and the Borderlands.
The knights almost 3000 strong on horseback flew across the plains and cut down thousands of Uruk until they reached Tetheford River . the Red General pushed his men as his scouts reported a buildup of enemy forces in the foothills latter to be called "the Red Hills". Waiting until the early morning before sunup he lead his men on a fateful charge into the Red Hills to face off against the Uruk remanents. What he did not know was that here were demons amongst the enemy and that his scouts underestimated their numbers, thousands have gathered here enough to possibly retake the fight back. With a heavy heart he ordered his men some 2000 strong into the gathered host. His men crashed hard cutting them down by the hundreds. Once the initial shock was over the battle was joined by no less then 6 demons of immense size and fell magic. The battle was looking bad for the knights as their magic was proving moderate at best as they had no clerics and a small handful of natural sorcerers.he battle raged as they used their mounts to great affect , the hills allowed the knights to isolate pockets and strike them down.Exhaustion was the real killer as well as the sheer numbers.   It was the first rays of Dawn coming over the plains to the west , as soon as it touched the Red Generals blade the light seemed to collect and infuse it with holy radiance then each knight had their blades ignite in similar fashion. The sun also had a healing affect on the knights as wounds closed and exhaustion drained away. Each knight armed with a blade of holy wrath they cu down all but one demon who fled into he Khaadur mountains.Seeing their allies run the host broke and ran west into the plains. With renewed vigor they charged out slicing and trampling one after another.Their blades ignited with furious divine judgment.   Reaching a great lake they rallied and turned to face their mounted pursuers. Thousands were dead but still they were many. The knights were outnumbered 50 to one. Their blades still on-fire with holy radiance they charged once again , from the deep waters came trolls in great numbers to join the Uruk for they were fueled by their own dark gods. The Red General lead the charge into the massive center. Battle raged and as soon as one of the water trolls got close it had an unwanted affect on the holy blades, they were snuffed out . Hope seemed lost, until a bright light in the sky took all eyes upward as a rain of fire descended smashing into the lake sending waves of super heated water and flames across the land as well as into the battle itself. Only 17 Knights returned from this to tell the tale. They would be known as the Redknights.
The lake and surrounding land became known as "the blasted desert"ever since.
