Grand duke

Grand duke is a title given to rulers of lands on the edge of the Eldorian Empire. The Emperor delegates these sections of land to those titled rulers who in turn pledge their house to the throne. It is a hereditary position handed down to the successor chosen by the head of the family.
With such a vast empire the royal court has its hands full with enough politics back home, land out in the fringes, they delegate as Grand Duchies  and given to Grand/Arch Dukes or Duchess to rule over while still paying taxes to the throne.
