Village of Nulb

Nulb,they say if Hommlet was light and just then Nulb is the direct opposite.locals call it the dirty poor brother.Its buildings are old and in needof repair like its people while the streets are full of devious deeds and scoundrals willing to take your coin.
Known for its deep harbor and a haven for ship captains that come in from the Dragon straits and the sea beyond.
When goods arrive from affar they must stop here as anyfurtehr south the river bogs down into the moors.It is for this reason alone the Town remains.From here cargo is unloaded and sent along the low road to Hommlet.
In theory the town belongs to the Hype family in Hommlet, but they have no presense here and if asked are quick to change the subject.The true rulers of the area are the Howlers, a thieves guild that runs the place.
Lady grey the Duchess of Elmast tolerates this existence only because the trade route is kept open and the logistics of getting enough men out there to lay down the law would cost to much time and coin, for now the Howlers run the show and are keeping up there taxes to Lady grey. Some call it blood money but the town does seem to work in its own right.
It is known that there are many small gang's that work in Nulb as it is legal to steel and murder as long as one does not get caught, punishment can range from a slap on the wrist to full on beheading.Once a man was convicted of leering at another mans woman, he was sentenced to be tossed in a pit of ghouls and eaten alive then the woman was flogged near to death for the attentions.
Two taverns are in this town, Bluewater inn ( run by the howlers ) and the bearded clam down by the docks, both are considered rough in there own way.Blue water is run by the guild itself and the local barkeep never sleeps.It is said he is a mage of the dark arts and has wards that prevent dimensional travel in and out of the place. The Clam is not owned by any one person or organization, it has its drinks stocked by pirates who bring in their booty and it is run in turn by locals, it is expected to pay for your drinks and the price can and does fluctuate based on the mood.
