Seige of Khazadur

Military action

The first five years after Notime were years of saddness and loss, a stale mate, trapped in their own bunkers to the goblin hordes. These were designed for storage and a last line of defense for women and children.Tunnels were made to get out and hopefully find help but somehow Goblin sappers were always able to find them and collapse the narrow passages .   Without the memory of the secret ways , the Khazadur were unable to find the secret paths they new insticntfully were there but out of reach. Or to activate the golems that were supposed to power up when needed.   All seemed hopeless, but they persevered.Before Notime the supply rooms were fully stocked with food and with the loss of half their people, food was no longer an issue.Water came in the form of marvels of engineering from deep below through pipes and drain systems .This allowed the people to survive agasint starvation or worse.....   On the Fith year,all this changed. It came came from below.Over 23000 dark dwarves appeared through secret tunnels . Their Leader Durin , found a way up through secret tunnels and told of a frightful escape from a dark menace down below. A ghoul calling himself the Pale Lord , who lead an army of the dead. Wiping out one city after anther, making the fallen come back to join his ranks.   This ghoul king hunted the Duergar for months in the tunnels below,until Durin found passages he claims were shown to him in a dream these lead his people upward to the halls of Khazadur.   Feldar the proclaimed leader of the Khazadur welcomed his dark cousins as saviors ,as too did Durin of the Derg.For without memory they only saw each other as kin not as age old enemy's.   Two options now lay before them, One; go down in the tunnels and confront the pale lord or two; break the siege and reclaim the halls. The choice was made to breakout against the greenskins and reclaim the halls.     The Doors opened and the Dwarven host took the goblins by surprise. Hall by hall was reclaimed in what would be called The great slaughter. No quarter was given to the hordes warriors, as dark and light dwarves fought as one.many axes were blunted on goblin skulls that day, even without memory they new these were their hated enemies.   The next 6 years were bloody and cruel on all sides. Feldar and Durin lead their people to victory as they reclaimed a good amount of their mountain home back, enough to survive and give their people room to breath. During this time Feldar fell from a grievous wound from a Ogre of immense size and has been mourned every year since on Feldars day.Durin continued to lead the united dwarves as king until Feldars son was of age.
