Miles "Merlin" Stanway
A clever young boy who loves fantasy and all things odd winds up in Kaldra Minor. As a teen, the Wayfinder Shard calls to him and he discovers it as well as the path to Kaldra Prime. As soon as he gets to Kaldra Prime, he is imbued with magical ability.
Upon entering the new world, being magically charged, and then discovered by its inhabitants, the boy gave the name “Merlin” as his own. After spending most of his life in Kaldra Prime, honing his powers and making the land safer for the humans and other creatures that live there, he was contested by Culbur, a large Green Dragon who sought to corrupt his vast power.
Culbur and Merlin fought for decades and matched wits time and again. The now man Merlin would tap into his boyish charm, his understanding of the Arcane, and the wisdom acquired from his childhood loving fantasy. This spat would continue as the two opposing ideologies would never bring themselves to end the other’s life.
Merlin was then approached by several different types of mythological creatures asking him to take them to Kaldra Minor, being fed up with magic in their lives and being tired of their gifts being taken advantage of – Merlin offered to help provided that the species’ in question erased all knowledge of their kind from the world and allowed the Humans in Kaldra Minor to live in peace and ignorance.
The spell Merlin would have to cast would take time and alert any magically attuned creature living in Kaldra Prime. This of course alerted any dragons nearby, i.e. Culbur, who tried to stop Merlin from hiding the Lorkin, proclaiming that this was unlike him and that he would be corrupting the very point of Kaldra Minor. When Merlin refused to stop, Culbur attacked, forcing Merlin to “curse” Culbur and his offspring with the same “hiding” spell he used for the Lorkin.
This distraction caused Merlin to make a small mistake during the spell, sending multiple vile races into Kaldra Minor, including Culbur. Merlin then followed with the Wayfinder Shard, back to Kaldra Minor in order to keep the land safe.
Upon his reentry, Merlin was severely hindered in magical ability, but because of his years of training was able to use many of his skills even in Kaldra Minor.
With the nefarious magical creatures on the loose in Kaldra Minor, the land on which Merlin came to was in chaos, leaderless, and on the brink of collapse. Using his abilities and his knowledge of fantasy from Earth, he created “Excalibur”, a sword meant for a king. When a young boy pulled Excalibur from the stone, Merlin became his patron and helped him create the kingdom of Camelot.
