Old Partri
Found in place names, most modern calendars, loan word vocabularies of numerous modern languages, this lingua franca was the dominant tongue of the old Empire of Partrinex before its collapse. A living grammar has yet to be reconstructed by linguists, but many hundreds of words, roots, and sentences have surviving meanings which carry over from before the fall. The Neo-Partri language spoken by citizens of Partem is most directly descended from this language, but there are a surprising number of divergences to be found between Old and Neo-Partri.
Writing System
Partrinex developed a writing system relatively early in its history, using reeds growing on the banks of the Katamarin Isle to create rudimentary paper. The Old Partri writing system uses an alphabet. See Old Partri Alphabet. (add a link here)
