Hampter Ridge

Hampter Ridge is on the edge between Procton and Sker, and as it implies, is a ridge. It spans about fourteen miles and is about three miles wide. It was mostly used as a settlement for soldiers during The Civil War, but it has been used by citizens during times of battle and danger as it is a natural defense area. Because the ridge is high, one is able to see the enemy long before they reach the Ridge. It is considered a back-up plan/refuge in case the enemy is about to attack. Used by the Proctoners for most of the war, the Skerish managed to gain hold on it near the end, leaving the Proctoners to find another area to evacuate to during bad times. When the border between the two countries was finally defined, it was again given to the Proctoners as part of their land. The small village beneath Hampter Ridge used the Ridge itself many times during the war, whenever there was a rumor of soldiers coming, many would hurry to the top of the ridge for safety as well as out of curiosity. If they managed to actually see the Skerish coming, it was good gossip for the next few months. After the war ended, Hampter Ridge became a lot more unsettled as most of the soldiers left to go to their own homes, but it is still popular as a look out for the villagers in Hampter itself. There are a few cottages and some people who live there, but most prefer the village, where all the people are. Hampter Ridge is a little mountainous, and has a few pines interspersed on it as well as a stream for water. It is a little hard to get up on top of and down off of, as there is only one rather rocky path that comes down from it.
