Hawbalans

In the cold mountains of Hawbal, there is a tradition that is now looked upon by the rest of the world as harmful.
Hawbalans are some of the wildest people on the face of Kalste, and their forms of greeting are of the old ways. All greetings, friend, foe, acquaintance, are started with a rough and tumble fight, that for the most part is not anything dangerous. However, the greeting can become extremely dangerous, even leading to death on one or both sides when people are enemies. As it is part of a greeting, it is considered part of life for one to attempt to kill ones enemy when greeting him.
In the old days, long ago before much of the world was even recorded, fighting was the form of greeting in all the inhabited place of Kalste. However, the King of Skillia got tired of his people getting murdered by each other and banned all fighting; banned it so firmly that if anyone fought in his country, they were uncompromisingly executed. Very slowly, the other lands took up this custom, agreeing that killing each other was not quite the best way to go about life.
Hawbalans never took up the way, as they lived far enough from the rest of civilization that they didn’t hear about it until much later. Hawbal is a violent place, full of death and pain, but it is also filled with excitement and a lot of noise.
Hawbalan’s hold a monthly show for whoever would like to join, a fight to the death show. A challenger will challenge the man from the last championship and fight. Whichever one wins may be challenged at any time for the rest of the day. The winner is declared the champion at midnight and allowed to go home, until the next month comes around
