Motivations

1. What is the main thing or one of the main things that inspired your world?
I have been writing stories for a few years now, but I always became frustrated when a law in the country where I based the story, or the town I based my story in got in my way.
For example: I have a family of children who's mother gets murdered in a modern day setting. The whole base of the story is on the fact that the children are very private and mysterious. To my annoyance, it didn't make sense for them not to go to the police, so what if it was in a made up world? I could make the laws be whatever way I wanted. It came into a full fledged world when I decided I was going to do a story about a boy who lives in a country where joy is against the law, and that could be done much easier in my own world.

2. What is your favorite aspect of your world and what inspired that aspect?
My favorite aspect of the world of Kalste is that I can make every country any way I want, any person do whatever I want them to and have it make sense. I also really enjoy the fact that every time I write the details of a certain country, all kinds of ideas enter my head.

3. What are some writers/worldbuilders that inspire you to write/worldbuild?
Jennifer A. Nielsen's The False Prince is one of my favorite books, and one of the first ones that inspired me to build my own world. Another favorite of mine is The Whipping Boy by Sid Fleischman, although I don't think it specifially mentions its in another world.
My cousin, although not a published author does write her own stories and is one of my biggest fans and greatest inspirations in both the building of my world and the writing of my stories.

One of the I enjoy most about writing is when I hear one of my siblings laugh when they read it. They are my other biggest fans, reading my articles and stories even when I know they're awful.

That's awesome! Really interesting concept of joy being against the law!   Thanks for participating. I'm really excited to start diving into your worlds!
