The Disappearing Theorists

“Disappearing!? Who wants to figure out something like that? I wonder what they’ll come up with next!”
~Jaine Tillin, A Citizen of Skillia
The Disappearing Theorists were a group of scientists who most people didn’t believe or approve of.
The scientists believed that when water is hot enough, it disappeared, so they believed that if they got anything hot enough it would disappear. They were always trying to figure out ways contain the heat that made water disappear. They used iron boxes, which they believed were strong enough to hold together as it could obviously handle high heat, as it was used by blacksmiths. They wanted to be able to open the iron box and wave it a particular object to make it disappear. They also believe that anything that doesn’t manage to disappear including charcoal must have some iron in it.
The Disappearing Theorists live mostly in the country of Skillia, but do live in the surrounding countries to some degree. Most people consider them utterly crazy.
The first man to come up with the idea was a gentleman by the name of Bennick Grashum, when he accidentally boiled away a kettle of water. His brother told him he was an idealist when he told him of his idea, so he did not mention it to anyone else. However, when he was older, he decided to expand on the theory and wrote a pamphlet about it, distributing it throughout the city. It was not a popular theory and was generally made fun of, but a few people believed it. Slowly it gained a little popularity especially among the younger generation of scientists. Later all of it was proved to be wrong, but there are still a few people here and there who believe in the idea. Several books have been written on the idea, expanding on it and developing their own theories.
