Old Town
Old Town is the part of Mushicaa with the highest concentration of pre-Gentling buildings and other structures. It has a distinct aura about it, something mysterious, a sense of resonance - as though the echos of an ancient bell tone linger on, long after the bell has stopped ringing. It's a popular area for art festivals in the warmer months, and ceremonies year round. One of the first places colonized by Gentlings, because of it's unique energy presence, existing trees, charm, and a variety of available waterways and slime.
Demographics
Well educated, well established, many scholars, healers, great artists, fewer general workers.
Government
There are actual rules here about who can live where, but not much other government is needed.
Defences
The natural defense of being difficult to navigate to those who don't already live there.
Industry & Trade
Since there is a lot of slime underneath Old Town, this is one place where trade may occur. Medicines and fertilizers are traded for foods and textiles, sometimes labor. The paper mill products are free to all.
Infrastructure
Ancient sewer systems and other underground tunnel systems not fully explored. Other structures are well maintained, including a watermill used in the production of paper for artistic and scholarly endeavors.
Assets
Slime, knowledge.
Guilds and Factions
Most of the population falls into these categories: Healers/Slime Science Workers, Philosophers/Rule Makers, Renowned Artists/Scholars. The groups interact peacefully, but have developed certain ego issues not common among Gentling populations in general.
History
Gentlings have been drawn to this place longer than there are records. The oldest families live here. Slime science was developed here during the Dust Storm Years.
Architecture
Mostly residential, some businesses, cobblestone alleyways twist and turn up and down the area. The buildings are slightly smaller here, for no apparent reason, which makes the Gentlings feel more welcome.
Geography
The hilliest part of the area, many tiny waterways throughout. Structures create strange shadow patterns at different times throughout the day. When the breeze picks up, hollow sounds can be heard echoing through the streets like a ghost chorus.
Natural Resources
Community garden/trees are maintained by all, for all. Underground tunnels provide slime resource, however further exploration is dangerous as the unexplored areas have not been fully fortified and are prone to collapse. This part of the city is pretty full, occasionally adventurers find their way in but are found and removed fairly quickly.
RUINED SETTLEMENT
Age unknown. Gentlings have been inhabiting it for roughly 600 years, they have not developed a way to date the pre-existing ruins.
