The Wall

Unbeknownst to the inhabitants, The Wall is an interdimensional doorway through which the Wallomites come into this world. Unique otherwise only in that they cannot figure out what it's made of. It's not the only thing they can't figure out the material composition of, but probably the most famous. Located behind the watermill, the wall separates the area with most of the housing and the area where most of the trees and bushes are grown. A house has been built along the backside of the wall. The front side faces a large lawn, and garden with decorative plants and seating. Children are left alone here often, it serves as a sort of natural daycare.   Gentlings also gather here to do group stretching exercises, nap, seek peace during stressful times, and hold joyful ceremonies such as weddings or city wide art displays. Unexplained shadows play upon the wall, and odd sounds are heard at times, echoes of things that haven't happened. Drawings fade quickly on The Wall, as though absorbed by the strange material.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

The Wall itself allows energy to pass through it, a conduit to another place. Physical items may not pass through it, with exception to very thin membranous organic materials. With more and more Wallomites passing through it and congregating on the surface, it has taken on the characteristic of being able to "suck" out excess energy from those nearby, allowing for the feelings of peace and calm. This is not an ability of the wall itself of course, but Gentlings have not realized this yet.

Significance

The Wall and the open grassy area in front of it have been a natural meeting place since the first settlers. It is considered an almost sacred place, where Gentlings set aside personal differences and plan for the greater good.
