Dune Surfers

Power Generation

Dune Surfers are powered by small combustion engines in the middle of the vehicle, between the driver and gunner seats.

Propulsion

Narrow treads are mounted on the sides of the Dune Surfer just underneath smooth metal guards.

Weapons & Armament

The gunner seat has access to two mounted weapons. A machine gun is mounted on the rear of the Dune Surfer and a pair of fire cannons are mounted on the front of the Dune Surfer. Many versions of Dune Surfers also have long metal blades attached to the top of them, allowing for the driver to spring out of the sand and slash at creatures above the vehicle before the gunner can shoot them.

Armor and defense

The entire top of the Dune Surfer is covered in durable but lightweight metal plating. The underside of the Dune Surfer is covered in a thinner layer of metal. The primary defensive technique utilized by drivers of Dune Surfers is to drive it beneath the sand and hide from threats.

Communication Tools & Systems

A pair of speakers and microphones are mounted in the drivers seat and the gunners seat, allowing for communication between the two. Some Dune Surfers also have externally mounted speakers that allow the driver or gunner to broadcast messages to creatures outside the vehicle.

Sensors

The Dune Surfer is not typically outfitted with any kind of sensors, but some versions have simple tremor-sensors that can detect vibrations in the surrounding terrain.

Additional & auxiliary systems

Most Dune Surfers have a temperature regulation module that serves to both keep the driver and gunner comfortable and to prevent creatures with thermal senses from detecting the vehicle.
