Smus

The plant Smus is one of the most useful plant found in the wild.  This is because the plant can be used in many different ways.  Some of the ways include food, the fiber industry, and medicine.
     The first way smus can be used is for food.  All parts of the plant can be eaten when prepare the right way.  The roots of the plant need to be fried in some kind of oil and is mostly add to salads.  The way you have to prepare the stem is to cook the stems in water for a minimal of four days.  After you do this, you have to cut them in very small pieces and bake them as a flat cake.  The leaves are the only part of the plant that does not need to cook but must be cleaned in water.  After that you can eat them right away or cook them with the stems or the roots.  The flower must be cook with the roots (frying them) or with the stems (flat cake).  The reason is because of the third way the plant can be used.
  The second way smus can be used is in the fiber industry.  The stems of the smus plant are used by crushing them, mostly between two rocks, multiple times to make them soft enough to weave them into threads.  A small piece of fabric make for the smus plant is one of the symbols of power and wealth in Kandalria because it is very expensive to make.  The roots of the the smus plant are also used to dye other kinds of fabric,.  The dye is a bight blue color to the fabric.  This dye is also very expensive to make and is another symbol of power and wealth.
  The third way the smus plant is can be used is in the medical field.  The flowers of the plant are dryed and crushed in to very small parts.  This powder is used to help with pain.  Only healers can give this medicine to people because it is very strong.  Many have try to eat the flowers thinking it will help with pain but cooking the flowers removes this property.  And many more have die eating the flower with out cooking them.
   The smus plant is one of the most useful plant in wild areas because of the many uses it has.  Many people have tried to grow this plant outside of the wild but it has never happened.

Conservation Status

The government of Albron only lets the smus plant be picked one time a year and only for seven days. The people that can pick the smus are given special permission to gather it.
