Who is this woman? This woman is an artisan in the Crystalline Guild. She carves exquisite things from all kinds of crystals, a talent she inherited from her mother who died giving her life, leaving her to grow up alone in a family that didn't really want her. She feels like the crystals speak to her, sharing the secrets that they hold inside. The last thing that made her cry was the final argument she had with her father, although she didn't cry in front of him, or anyone else for that matter, because she believes that crying is a sign of weakness. There is a restlessness that lives in her belly pushing her to keep going and looking for a place where she can finally be still and feel rooted. Her favorite place to be is out in the meadow, after the rains, with the six moons of Kataan, the four indigo sisters and their two glowing daughters who light the way to a new day, smiling down on her.

Her mother died due to complications from childbirth. She was raised by her father who was rather cold toward his only daughter, generally reserving his attention and comradery for his sons. She has four older brothers, three of whom did not treat her very well, but Drek, the one closest in age to her, was always as supportive as he could be under the circumstances.
Religious Views
She and her brothers were raised to follow the beliefs of an acetic faction known as the Believers that their parents belonged to requiring a sparse and simple lifestyle with no creature comforts. By the time her youngest son Drek was born, Ket's mother was becoming disenchanted with this religion and beginning to secretly return to her roots as an artisan of the Crystalline Guild. Ket inherited her mother's talent for working with crystals and eventually left the religion of her youth to follow in her mother's footsteps.

Ket's no nonsense attitude and blunt manner of speaking make her come across as unfriendly and sometimes downright rude, but in reality, that's not the case. While she is generally not quick to trust, once she forms a bond with someone, she is a true friend through thick and thin.
